Bespoke Ballet Tutus - Individually Made
Ballet tutus are made with a structured panelled bodice in the classical English "V" shape, with piped edges, and the tutu bodices are made from 100% silk or 100% cotton velvet, lined with 100% cotton so that they are breathable. Junior sizes are made from 8 panels, and senior sizes comprise 10 or 12 panels and include boning, and a nude inset for the older dancer.
The tutu skirt can be either a classical pancake tutu or a softer eurobell shape. The skirt will typically be made of 9 layers, handtacked. The tutu net and tulle are imported from Italy to ensure high quality structural tutu net, rather than inferior dress net. The edges of each layer can be feathered or scalloped for an even more dramatic effect, and a plate can be added to the skirt in a range of styles, in the same silk as the bodice. Please scroll through the gallery below for examples of these design details. The basque is made from high quality powernet to be stretchy, breathable and hygienic.
Embellishments are added to the bodice and skirt, and can comprise a range of products selected in conjunction with each client, including lace, guipure lace, beading, pearls, diamanté, sequins, feathers and many other beautiful trims.Generous seam allowances are included in the tutus to allow for the tutu to be altered at a later date, to grow with your dancer.
